This was stated by Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, during a meeting with Michael McCaul, Chairman Emeritus of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.
The parties discussed the outcomes of the NATO Summit and their significance for Ukraine, focusing particularly on decisions capable of significantly enhancing the protection of Ukrainian skies against russian missile attacks. Special emphasis was placed on securing a license for the domestic production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, which are capable of shooting down the enemy's ballistic missiles.
“Today, this is critically important to counter russia's missile threats and save the lives of Ukrainians,” emphasized Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also briefed Michael McCaul on the battlefield situation and the key needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, stressing the necessity of further deepening Ukrainian-American cooperation in air defense and the development of the defense-industrial complex.
According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, the US must also intensify sanctions pressure on the aggressor state.
For his part, Michael McCaul highly praised the achievements of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, the development of the defense-industrial complex, and the resilience of Ukrainian society.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted that this assessment is particularly significant given the consistent support for Ukraine by the United States Congress.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Michael McCaul for his unwavering attention to Ukraine, his support for bipartisan initiatives in the US House of Representatives, and his leadership in promoting decisions that strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and bring a just peace closer.
