Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with Andrius Kubilius, EU Commissioner for Defence and Space.
A key focus of the meeting was the strengthening of Ukraine’s air and missile defence, in particular, the need to supply additional Patriot systems, SAMP/T, NASAMS, IRIS-T, alongside a sufficient supply of missiles for them.
Additionally, the parties discussed the development of unmanned technologies, the provision of artillery, long-range strike capabilities, and electronic warfare (EW) systems. They also focused on strengthening defense cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, enhancing air defense, developing the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex, and intensifying sanctions pressure on russia.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized that Ukraine is not merely a recipient of aid, but also one of the key manufacturers of cutting-edge defense technologies:
“Our defense-industrial complex is capable of producing more weaponry, faster and more efficiently, which is why its integration into the European defense-technological base should be one of the EU’s top priorities.”
Ruslan Stefanchuk also noted that Ukraine is currently defending Europe’s eastern flank.
“Our combat experience, technologies, and production capabilities are already shaping a new European security architecture,” he added.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked Andrius Kubilius for his personal support for Ukraine and consistent leadership in strengthening European defense, emphasizing that Ukraine’s security is an integral part of the security of Europe as a whole.
