During the meeting with the delegates of the International Trade Union Confederation, the First Vice-Speaker first of all stressed that social dialogue is functioning despite the war: “Ukraine is using every opportunity to balance the interests of all parties. In particular, protecting the lives of workers is now a shared responsibility of the state and business.”
He also said that many businesses continue to operate in Ukraine, despite the fact that the russian federation has destroyed, damaged or seized some of them. Moreover, new businesses are emerging, including those related to digital tech.
At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko informed about the creation of a working group to develop a draft Labour Code. He noted that the new code is expected to be more flexible and modern, and better meet the needs of the Ukrainian labour market.
In addition, the First Vice-Speaker emphasised the priority of our country – integration into the European Union, which also includes the implementation of European directives in the field of labour law: “This will improve the working and living conditions of people and increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian business.”
He
concluded by saying that Ukraine is already at the stage of opening negotiations
on membership in the European Union, in fact, at the stage of obtaining a
negotiating framework.
