The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine V.V.Rybak met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun on Friday.
During the meeting Parties have discussed the issue of further cooperation between Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China particularly, its parliamentary component.
Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China congratulated V.Rybak on the occasion of his election to a responsible post of the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and assured him in the readiness of the authority of his country for further development and deepening of Ukrainian-Chinese relations.
Zhang Xiyun noted that Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation both in economic and humanitarian spheres has reached a high level during the last few years. Mr. Ambassador reminded that a great deal of Chinese investments was directed into the energy and transport sector, as well as agriculture, infrastructure, and high technologies. According to him, “bilateral visits of Heads of Parliaments and parliamentary friendship groups will give positive energy to all spheres of life of both countries”.
Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China stressed the necessity of early implementation of a number of economic projects according to the relation development program between Ukraine and China, noting that national parliaments should play a significant role here.
In his turn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that current meeting opens a new page in the inter-parliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China. He informed Mr. Ambassador of the work of the newly elected Parliament, saying that “voters wait for serious decisions from the Verkhovna Rada”. V.Rybak expressed conviction that all organizational issues in the part of establishing parliamentary committees will be settled next week and “the Verkhovna Rada shall start working as usual”.
The Chairman of the Parliament greeted Zhang Xiyun with successful completion of work of the eighteenth Congress of the Communist Party of China held on November 8-14, 2012 in Beijing. V.Rybak reminded that during the last 2,5 years Ukrainian-Chinese relations have been actively developing at all levels. In this context, he assured that “a serious friendship group” with the People’s Republic of China shall be established from among the newly elected deputies. The work of the Group shall be aimed at activating cooperation for practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest levels. The agreements mainly aim at further development of Ukrainian-Chinese strategic partnership.
V.Rybak noted significance of activating bilateral relations in all spheres and claimed that Ukraine has created all preconditions for further development of prospective trends of Ukrainian-Chinese strategic partnership that is one of the priorities of Ukrainian foreign policy. He noted that the Ukrainian Parliament is ready to further cooperate with the Chinese National People's Congress and aims at exchanging experience in the sphere of legislative initiative and law-making.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine extended an invitation to the Standing Committee of National People's Congress of China U Bango to make an official visit to our country. He stressed that this visit shall promote deepening of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation.
