Today, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko met with a delegation of the Italian Chamber of Deputies' Commission on Foreign Affairs and Communities.

At the beginning of the meeting, Oleksandr Korniienko thanked his Italian colleagues for the visit and expressed hope for strengthening further cooperation and cooperation in the interparliamentary dimension.

The First Vice-Speaker also thanked Italy for its steady and long-term support of Ukraine in the difficult times of the war with russia. He informed the guests about the security situation in Ukraine, in particular, about the latest russian attacks on our cities — terror against Ukrainians, warehouses and port infrastructure. "The enemy is constantly changing its tactics. And the last few days have seen an unprecedented attack on our country's port infrastructure and grain storage facilities. Such actions of the aggressor country can have serious consequences for global food security," stressed Oleksandr Korniienko and noted that Italy is one of the countries that has been systematically helping to protect Ukrainian skies.

Therefore, he called for increased support in this vital issue for peaceful Ukrainian cities and citizens. The parties also touched upon Ukraine's European integration and Euro-Atlantic progress, in which Italy, according to Oleksandr Korniienko, constantly supports all decisions for our country. "This includes a large financial package and the issue of Ukraine's accession to the EU. We know that Italy, the Italian Parliament and the Italian people support us. We also thank you for the statement on Ukraine's accession to NATO before the Vilnius Summit. We must continue to move in this direction together," Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized.

The parties also discussed the issue of Ukraine's reconstruction. The First Vice-Speaker thanked Italy for holding a major conference on Ukraine's recovery in Rome in April, which raised important issues of our country's future, including investment in Ukraine's reconstruction and development both now and after the war. "This year we have created a fairly effective recovery infrastructure.

We are also working on a number of laws that will allow businesses to feel more confident in Ukraine. Therefore, we invite Italy to join the process of rebuilding specific communities with specific projects," Oleksandr Korniienko called on his Italian colleagues.

At the end of the conversation, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine once again thanked Italy for all the assistance that Ukraine has been receiving throughout the war with russia and stressed that our country highly appreciates it.

The meeting was also attended by the MPs Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, and Dmytro Natalukha, the Chair of the Committee on Economic Development.
