Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze took part in the extraordinary joint meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Security and Defense of the European Parliament.
In her speech, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze called on MEPs to support Ukraine in the face of the threat posed by the Russian Federation.
According to the Head of the Committee, Russia is blackmailing the world and threatening Ukraine and Europe, using the so-called technique of small pieces. It is resorting to hybrid attacks, taking small steps and waiting for the West's response, "We see how Russia, with cynicism and brutality, is violating international law. After a series of dialogues with Russia, cyber attacks were carried out on the Ukrainian authorities. And we do not know what Russia's next attack on Ukraine will be. Therefore, we must be ready to repel immediately."
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze is convinced that sanctions against the aggressor are important, but assistance to Ukraine at other levels is no less important, "I am convinced that now it is very important to lift all embargoes, including hidden ones, on arms sales to Ukraine, because Ukraine must be able to defend itself. Europe must be united in preventing the introduction of the 'Nord Stream-2.' There are many more things - from the disconnection of the Russian Federation from SWIFT and ending with personal sanctions that you can adopt. We hope that you will be unanimous on these issues."
