On 9 December 2025, a video conference meeting was held between Oleksandr Merezhko, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, and Ine Eriksen Søreide, Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Storting (Parliament) of Norway
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed global political trends and the importance of transatlantic unity, the current security situation in Ukraine, prospects for a ceasefire and peace process, including possible effective security guarantees for Ukraine, sanctions policy against the aggressor state, and the use of frozen russian assets to restore Ukraine's economy and critical infrastructure.
The interlocutors paid particular attention to discussing Ukrainian-Norwegian cooperation and interparliamentary dialogue, in particular the upcoming visit of the Norwegian Committee to Ukraine next year, as well as the prospects for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.
