As it was mentioned, the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine consists of 8 members, 4 of them are appointed by the Verkhovna Rada and 4 - by the President of Ukraine.
It was stressed that according to the legislation, the National Council prepares an annual report on its activity which is published until February 1, and immediately sends it to the Verkhovna Rada and the President of Ukraine. Following the report's consideration, the Verkhovna Rada and the President of Ukraine can early terminate powers of one or several Council members.
The Committee members informed the President that on February 28, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada considered the report of the National Council for 2013. Following the results of consideration, the Verkhovna Rada expressed distrust to the Council which resulted in early termination of powers of the Council's members appointed by the Parliament.
It was emphasized that at the same time there is no President's evaluation of the National Council report for 2013.
People's deputies also announced the competitive selection for occupying four vacancies of the National Council members which are being elected by the Parliament; after conducting a special examination, 16 candidates were submitted for Parliament's consideration.
