The parties discussed further assistance to Ukraine, in particular, defence assistance, and strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation.
“The conversation with Hiroyuki Hosoda is the first crucial meeting within the framework of the G7 Parliamentary Summit. I thank my colleague for the invitation to participate in it,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expressing gratitude from the entire Ukrainian people for the support of the friendly people of Japan.
At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk informed his colleague about another crime committed by the russian federation in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, when the aggressor state hit a market where there were civilians. He called on the Japanese side not only to condemn russia’s criminal actions, but also to increase assistance to Ukraine.
“Ukraine highly appreciates the consistent position of the Parliament and the Government of Japan aimed at protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, noting that Ukraine values historical justice.
Taking this opportunity, Ruslan Stefanchuk handed over to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, Hiroyuki Hosoda, a Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which approved the appeal to the international community to support Japan’s position on its northern territories, which continue to be under russian occupation.
In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed the importance of consistent implementation of the agreements reached by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Hiroyuki Hosoda expressed his sincere condolences to the Ukrainian people and the families of the victims of the russian terrorist attack in Kostiantynivka. “Together with our NATO partners, we have supported and will continue to support Ukraine at all levels, preserving our valuable friendly partnerships,” he said.
