President of the German Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, arrived in Kyiv on her first visit following election at the invitation of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

As Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised, at a time when russia continues its war against Ukraine, the presence of the German parliamentary leadership in Kyiv carries special significance. This visit sent a clear political signal of Germany’s solidarity with Ukraine and reaffirmed support at the highest parliamentary level.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Germany for its comprehensive support, which Ukraine experiences every day — military, financial, and humanitarian. He emphasised that the visit also represents a demonstration of personal support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

The parties discussed further military support for Ukraine, the peace process, the possibility of using frozen russian assets, and the issue of energy decentralisation as one of the key elements of state stability in the face of constant attacks from russia. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of experience and coordination of efforts to counter common threats.

The President of the Bundestag stressed that even when the international community's attention is focused on other regions of the world, it is extremely important not to reduce the focus on russia's war against Ukraine and to continue supporting our state.

During their visit to Ukraine, the parties also visited one of the energy facilities in the Kyiv region that had been hit by russian strikes. They discussed strengthening air defence, supplying the necessary equipment and implementing long-term projects to modernise energy infrastructure.

In addition, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the President of the Bundestag paid tribute to the fallen defenders of Ukraine at the Wall of Remembrance in Kyiv.
