By the Resolution, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the situation in the Republic of Belarus and instructed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to ensure the immediate sending of the Statement to the parliaments of foreign states and international parliamentary organizations.

The text of the Statement reads that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine does not consider the presidential election in Belarus to be either free or fair. The elections took place in the absence of real competition between candidates, free media, and authoritative observers from international organizations such as the OSCE and the Council of Europe.

“This gives grounds to believe that the officially announced results of the election of the President of Belarus do not reflect the real will of Belarusian citizens,” the document reads.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also condemned the use of excessive force and cruelty by the law enforcement agencies of Belarus.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine demands the release of all detainees who took to the streets of the cities to show their disagreement with the actions of the official authorities and have their own alternative opinion. The Ukrainian Parliament also strongly condemns and considers unacceptable the illegal detention of Ukrainian citizens in Belarus.

Ukraine strongly rejects the accusations of the Belarusian side of involvement in the destabilization of the situation in Belarus and considers inadmissible any intention to involve the forces of the Russian Federation and the CSTO to resolve the situation in Belarus. We will consider this step as a direct threat to the European security and security of Ukraine.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called on the Belarusian authorities to establish an equal dialogue with Belarusian society in order to find a peaceful way out of today's crisis.

As one of the options, the Ukrainian Parliament proposes: New free and democratic elections with the participation of independent international observers from leading European institutions.
