On May 28, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the draft law submitted by the President of Ukraine “On Ratification of the Agreement on Long-Term Cooperation and Support between Ukraine and the Republic of Albania” (No. 0357).
The purpose of the Law is to implement the intergovernmental procedures necessary for the entry into force of the Agreement on Long-Term Cooperation and Support between Ukraine and the Republic of Albania. The Agreement was signed on 21 January 2025 in Davos.
The decision of the Parliament will enable Ukraine to receive assistance over a ten-year period from the Republic of Albania in the military, intelligence, financial, humanitarian, and political fields, in accordance with commitments, including those undertaken by the Republic of Albania under the G7 Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine.
The relevant declaration was adopted on 12 July 2023 by the leaders of the Group of Seven (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States), as well as by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.
