The hearings "Intellectual property in Ukraine. State and conceptual foundations of development" were held on October 15, 2014.
People's deputies, representatives of the Government, the Presidential Administration, the National Defence and Security Council, national academies of sciences, scientific circles, public organizations, business circles and lawyers participated in these hearings.
The main aim of hearings is to elaborate conceptual proposals on forming efficient state policy in the sphere of protecting intellectual property rights.
The speakers focused on key factors which should form the strategy of developing national system of intellectual property.
Participants of the hearings particularly stressed that one of the main tasks for Ukraine in forming the modern legislation is implementing European norms of intellectual property rights.
The participants received analytical materials of executive authorities, thorough informational and analytic reference prepared by the working group, and draft recommendations.
Following the results of the Committee hearings, the final version of recommendations will be formed. These recommendations shall include proposals stimulating the state authorities to build an efficient system of governance in the sphere of protecting intellectual property rights in Ukraine.
According to the draft recommendation and in order to improve the status of legal relations in the intellectual property sphere, to adhere them to modern tendencies of society's development, to fulfill international obligations to the European Union, to determine national strategy of developing the intellectual property sphere, participants of the hearings suggest recommending that the Verkhovna Rada take into consideration the discussed estimation of the intellectual property sphere and proposals on conceptual foundations of its development; consider draft laws on protection of intellectual property rights as priority ones; etc.
