The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Honduras, Nasry Asfura, who is on a working visit to Ukraine.
During the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to the President and the Honduran people for their support and solidarity with Ukraine. He noted that visiting Kyiv during wartime is a sign of friendship and respect for the Ukrainian people.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine briefed his counterpart on the ongoing russian attacks and the consequences of strikes on Ukrainian cities, in particular, noting the damage to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The President of the Republic of Honduras, Nasry Asfura, emphasized that Ukraine is fighting a just war, and Ukrainian soldiers are defending values that are important for the entire free world. He reaffirmed his support for Ukraine and the commitment to achieve a just peace.
The parties also discussed the returning of illegally abducted Ukrainian children, cooperation in the technology and unmanned systems, as well as further deepening of bilateral relations.
Special attention was paid to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Ruslan Stefanchuk extended an invitation to the President of the National Congress of Honduras to visit Ukraine and participate in the Fifth Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform. Additionally, the interlocutors discussed the establishment of parliamentary friendship groups and the exchange of visits between legislative leaders.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine urged Honduras to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people, emphasizing the importance of this step in restoring historical justice and honoring the memory of millions of victims.
“Thousands of kilometers separate Ukraine and Honduras. Yet, distance loses its meaning when nations are united by a shared respect for freedom, human dignity, and justice,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
