Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk took part in the EU Conference of Speakers, held in Denmark.
This is an important platform for parliamentary dialogue, especially at a time when Europe’s security directly depends on the unity, determination, and ability of democratic institutions to act collectively.
“Today, Ukraine is defending not only its own statehood, but also the security of the entire European continent. This is why support for Ukraine, strengthening defence capabilities, maintaining sanctions pressure on russia, and the unity of European parliaments remain critically important,” emphasised Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Speaking at the Conference in Copenhagen, he stressed that Europe must think like a power and act like a power.
“Today, Europe’s security is being decided in Ukraine. russia is waging war not only against our state — it is attacking the entire European order, democracy, and the right of nations to determine their own future. Therefore, Europe must be united, resolute, and capable of making swift decisions,” Ruslan Stefanchuk underscored.
He stressed the need to decisively eliminate dependence on russian energy and the economy, strengthen sanctions, curb the so-called shadow fleet, support the Ukrainian military, protect Ukraine’s skies, and ensure the aggressor is held accountable. Europe must complete its historic process of unification.
During his visit to Copenhagen, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with His Majesty King Frederik X. Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed gratitude to Denmark for its unwavering support for Ukraine, its leadership in assisting the country, and its clear stance in favour of freedom, democracy, and international law.
During the bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, Lorenzo Fontana, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine discussed the security situation, in particular along the frontline, as well as challenges that Ukraine faces everyday. The military experience, development of counter-drone systems, joint defence projects, and the establishment of the European defence shield were also discussed.
"Ukraine is not only a recipient of support — it also generates unique knowledge, technological solutions, and practical experience that can strengthen the security of our partners," he noted.
