The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.
Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised that Ukraine today is an important contributor to European and global security, because it is countering russia — the biggest threat to the Alliance's security.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone for his visit to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, noting that it is a strong and timely signal of NATO's unwavering support for Ukraine.
The parties discussed the role of the Alliance in coordinating assistance to Ukraine, in particular through the NSATU and PURL mechanisms, as well as further strengthening of defence support. Particular attention was paid to ensuring that allied support remains timely, coordinated, and sufficient.
It was also noted during the meeting that the decision to provide €90 billion to Ukraine strengthens the country’s financial resilience in wartime.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised that Ukraine’s membership in NATO remains the best and most cost-effective option for ensuring security, and that the issue of Ukraine’s future in the Alliance cannot be taken off the agenda.
The parties also discussed preparations for the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara and expectations regarding the proper representation of the Ukrainian issue at the event.
Ruslan Stefanchuk also underlined the role of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in advancing reforms aimed at bringing the country closer to NATO standards and strengthening the interoperability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with those of NATO member states.
