On 21 November, the Day of Dignity and Freedom, the country’s leadership honored the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred by laying flowers at the Memorial Cross installed in their name.
The leadership of Parliament underscored the importance of remembering the events of the Maidan and the role of personal sacrifice in the struggle for independence. «This day once again reaffirms the unbreakable strength of the Ukrainian people — our will, resilience, and aspiration to live in a free European state. Our path to freedom has been forged through personal stories, sacrifice, and the readiness to fight for a dignified future,» said Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.
First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko focused on the active civic stance demonstrated by Ukrainians during the Revolution of Dignity, emphasizing that the fight for the right to live in an independent state was a principled choice for millions. «Millions came out to the Maidan to say this loudly and to show that nothing would force them to retreat,» he noted.
Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratiuk stressed that today’s resistance to russian aggression is inseparable from the values of the Maidan. «Dignity and freedom reflect our capacity to stand up to injustice and defend ourselves and others»”.
On this day, members of Parliament, together with the public, honor the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and call on all Ukrainians to uphold the values of dignity and freedom — values that have become the foundation of the modern state and of national unity.
