During his official visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with civil society activists at the recently opened Ukrainian House in Copenhagen.
First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Denmark, the Government of Denmark, the local authorities of Copenhagen and the activists of the Ukrainian community who joined the creation of the Ukrainian centre.
“This is a large cultural space, and I am confident that the Ukrainian House will become a real outpost of nurturing and spreading Ukrainian culture in the Kingdom of Denmark,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
He also thanked the public activists for their daily hard work, collecting and delivering humanitarian aid, supporting temporarily displaced persons, and working to spread the truth about russia’s war against Ukraine.
“During the conversation with our citizens, I asked them to talk about Ukraine in Denmark, because participation in support actions and active civic support helps to strengthen international support for Ukraine,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He also noted that Ukrainians are very grateful to all the nations, governments and parliaments that have welcomed them to their homes: “But the greatest desire of Ukrainians is to return to their home. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, the people of Ukraine, the authorities of Ukraine are doing everything to make this happen as soon as possible."
“The leadership of the state – the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine – and other high-ranking officials are trying to do everything possible to keep the topic of Ukraine on the minds of the whole world,” the Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine concluded.
For reference. In 2022, the Embassy of Ukraine, together with the Government and Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark, local authorities in Copenhagen and activists of the Ukrainian community in Denmark, began work on the establishment of a Ukrainian cultural centre in Denmark.
The Ministry of Culture of Denmark, with the approval of the Government and Parliament, has allocated more than EUR 1 million in financial support for the establishment and operation of the Ukrainian House in Denmark in 2022-2025.
On 24 February 2023, on the anniversary of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian House in Denmark was opened.
