This was emphasized by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Ukraine Harsh Kumar Jain.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament called on his Indian colleagues to intensify interparliamentary relations between the parliaments of Ukraine and India in the context of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. For his part, he promised to facilitate this both at the level of the Parliament’s leadership and at the level of friendship groups. According to him, such a friendship group already exists in the Ukrainian Parliament, so he invited his Indian colleagues to create the same association in the Parliament of India.
In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk welcomed the beginning of India’s presidency of the G20. He expressed gratitude to the Group for the support that Ukraine has received and continues to receive from this organization and expressed hope that Ukraine will be invited to participate in the G20 Parliamentary Summit to be held in India soon. The Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine emphasized that within this format "it is important to make progress in preventing a global humanitarian catastrophe and achieving peace in Ukraine".
The parties also discussed the importance for Ukraine of India’s participation in the consideration of issues related to the “peace formula” proposed by the President of Ukraine.
“It would be a great honor for us if India, as one of the most powerful countries in the world, participated in the “peace formula”, supported it, and took one or more of its points under its patronage,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
In addition, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament invited his Indian colleagues to participate in the next Summit of the International Crimean Platform, initiated and organized by Ukraine.
During the meeting, the participants also discussed topical issues of India’s assistance to our country, including humanitarian support, participation in projects to rebuild Ukraine, etc.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized that our country is interested in expanding, maintaining and strengthening relations with brotherly India.
“We now clearly see that the world is divided along the axis and all civilized countries are on the side of supporting Ukraine. I know that India has the same position, and I want to thank you and the people of India once again for such a clear and understandable support,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
During the meeting, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Ukraine Harsh Kumar Jain noted that it was a great honor for him to return to Ukraine as the Ambassador for the second time, especially in such a difficult time of trials for our country.
“India highly values warm and friendly relations with Ukraine. I am pleased that our countries hold regular meetings and talks at the highest level. I agree that recently there has been a certain gap in communication between our parliaments. Therefore, I will be happy to support further development of these contacts,” said Harsh Kumar Jain.
He also emphasized that India supports the implementation of President Zelenskyi’s “peace formula”, in particular, certain points of it.
“We support certain elements, including food security, nuclear security, and some others, by making clear statements on the peace formula on these items. India is a very interested country in further promoting these parts of the initiative,” the diplomat assured his Ukrainian colleagues.
Harsh Kumar Jain also informed about the plans to increase humanitarian aid from India, support the energy sector of Ukraine and deepen cooperation and collaboration between the two countries in various fields.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Ukraine noted that his country “highly appreciates the resistance of the Ukrainian people and sincerely hopes that peace will reign in the Ukrainian land as soon as possible.”
