Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a phone conversation with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Fernand Etgen.
At the beginning of the conversation, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to the Parliament and the Government of Luxembourg for the quick reaction to russia's increased missile attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities and called on his Luxembourg colleagues to support Ukraine's initiatives to exclude russia from all possible world organizations as a terrorist state.
"The most effective way to fight terrorism is total isolation. I call on you to support Ukraine in the initiative to deprive or terminate russia's permanent membership in the UN Security Council and other international organizations and to declare this state a terrorist one," said Ruslan Stefanchuk, adding that the complete isolation of the russian federation requires the unification of all civilized forces. According to him, one of the stages of such unification will be the holding of the First Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, which the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament invited representatives of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to join.
In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to his Luxembourg colleagues for supporting Ukraine's European integration aspirations, in particular, acquiring the status of a candidate for EU membership, and called for the support of the Euro-Atlantic direction of our country, its application for accelerated accession to NATO.
The parties also discussed a range of issues of cooperation and assistance to Ukraine in its fight against russian aggression: military and humanitarian support, Luxembourg's participation in the program for the reconstruction of Ukraine, and holding russia accountable for crimes it has committed.
"We believe in our victory. But it must be full-fledged, which is impossible without the supremacy of justice, which consists in holding russia accountable for everything it has done on our land.
We are grateful to Luxembourg for joining the case against Russia at the ECHR and call for support of Ukraine's initiative regarding a special tribunal to punish the russian military and political leadership for aggression," emphasized the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.
Summing up, Ruslan Stefanchuk, on behalf of the Ukrainian Parliament, expressed his readiness to continue to maintain a high level of inter-parliamentary cooperation and invited his colleague to visit Ukraine personally.
For his part, the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Fernand Etgen, expressed admiration for the courage of the Ukrainian people and strongly condemned the russian aggression, in particular the recent large-scale shelling of Ukrainian cities and towns.
"We will always be on your side. We continue to be resolute in our solidarity with Ukraine and condemn russia's invasion, which demonstrates the opposition between the systems of democracy and autocracy. All of Europe has united in its support for Ukraine, which is now defending our common values ??— freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law," noted Fernand Etgen.
He also assured his Ukrainian colleague of Luxembourg's continued support to Ukraine in all areas that are important for our victory in the fight against the terrorist country.
"The parliamentary relations of our countries are excellent and I am sure will remain the same. In particular, we are delegating our representative to participate in the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, because within the framework of this initiative we are resolutely advocating for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of internationally recognized Ukrainian borders," the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg emphasized.
