The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the Leader of the Social Democratic Party of Austria, Pamela Rendi-Wagner.

The parties discussed ways to end the war in Ukraine, nuclear and food security.

Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that he wants fellow parliamentarians from all countries to have the opportunity to obtain information from primary sources.

"I have sent an invitation to you and your colleagues to visit Ukraine so that you can communicate with Ukrainian parliamentarians who have different political views. I want you to come and form an opinion about Ukraine. I want you to see for yourself who we are dealing with and draw conclusions about the prospects for resolving the situation in Ukraine. Because you can't fool your eyes," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

He noted that a diplomatic solution to the war is possible only when there is trust. However, it is impossible to start a dialogue when the ground is lost – russia does not stop shelling and demands unacceptable things from Ukraine.

"Ukraine is a fan not only of the EU, but also of peace. We believe in our victory. And we know that the historic day will come when mothers' tears will fade into children's smiles," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

For her part, the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Austria, Pamela Rendi-Wagner, said that from the very beginning the party strongly condemned the aggressive attack on Ukraine.

"Our fraction has supported the sanctions that were gradually imposed on the russian federation. As for the sixth package of sanctions, we also supported it," said Pamela Rendi-Wagner.

According to her, the main goal now is to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible. She believes that sanctions and arms supplies alone will not stop the war – diplomatic steps are also needed. The head of the Social Democratic Party of Austria stated that she would continue to support Ukraine.

"Austria is on your side in rebuilding Ukraine and we will take part in this process," she added.
