Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, discussed the humanitarian, economic and security needs of Ukraine with Andreas Norlen, the Speaker of the Riksdag of Sweden.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Swedish Parliament for adopting a positive conclusion on Ukraine's application for EU membership and the EU's recommendation to recognise the prospect of Ukraine's membership. The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada also expressed gratitude for Swedish Riksdag's historic decisions to provide Ukraine with two packages of defence assistance.

"We are in dire need of additional defence assistance and look forward to the Swedish Parliament's continued support for the Swedish Government's future proposals," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

According to him, Sweden's financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and support for Ukraine's economy are vital for Ukraine at this difficult time. Ruslan Stefanchuk noted the value of Sweden's humanitarian aid and a comprehensive approach to the reception of Ukrainian citizens fleeing the russian war.

"We also count on the active participation of Sweden and the assistance of the Swedish Parliament in rebuilding the infrastructure of Ukraine in accordance with modern standards," said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.

Ruslan Stefanchuk invited the Speaker of the Riksdag of Sweden to visit Kyiv to see for himself the consequences of the russian war against Ukraine. He also expressed support for the Swedish police, who were injured in ensuring public safety and order during the recent street protests in Swedish cities.

For his part, Andreas Norlen assured of the unanimous support of the Swedish Parliament for Ukraine and its European perspective. According to him, "this is not only a matter of moral obligation, but also the EU's interest in doing everything possible to ensure that Ukraine supports the European direction." The Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag thanked and promised to consider Ruslan Stefanchuk's invitation to visit Kyiv.
