The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Lithuania.

The Speaker stressed the readiness of Ukraine to carry out reforms that bring the country closer to EU and NATO membership. “The European integration vector of our country's development remains unchanged, and we hope for Lithuania's further support in this process. It is important for us to fulfill what we promised our voters and we are working on it,” he noted.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Lithuania on October 11, and I am confident that they will be peaceful and democratic, said Dmytro Razumkov. He also noted that Ukraine, like the rest of the world, is confused by the situation in Belarus, and stressed that the elections must be fair and open.

Dmytro Razumkov said that on September 6, after 42 days of silence in eastern Ukraine, our servicemen suffered casualties again: one was killed, three were wounded and two more servicemen were blown up by an unknown explosive device. “Ukraine always adheres to its commitments, but, unfortunately, we cannot say the same about the aggressor country,” he said.

In addition, issues related to the operation of nuclear power plants were discussed during the meeting. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada drew attention to the fact that all countries that build and already operate nuclear power plants must comply with IAEA international standards, including norms, rules and standards on nuclear and radiation safety at all stages of the NPP life cycle.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada thanked Lithuania for continued support in the international arena. “Our states have been cooperating successfully for many years. You have rightly remarked that setting the right goal is half the battle. Ukraine and Lithuania already have common goals, so half of the way to a successful future has already been covered,” Dmytro Razumkov noted.
