As briefed on Friday by Rada TV channel

On plenary week’s results

In his interview to Rada TV, when summing up the Parliament’s week performance, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called it to be “quite a positive”. According to the Chairperson, there have been taken twenty-one decisions, five enactments as ready-made legal instruments, a round dozen of first reading bills and a series of important resolutions.

A.Parubiy also confirmed receipt of the Prosecutor General's requests on Parliament's consent to criminal prosecution of two members of Ukraine’s Parliament Serhii Dunaiev (faction "Opposition bloc") and Oleksandr Ponomarov (parliamentary group "People’s Will"). He said that he had commissioned the relevant committee to undertake the papers.

On anticorruption court law

The Chairman of Parliament called this law to be “the polar instrument for the country”.

In his interview to Rada TV channel on Friday, the Speaker of Parliament stressed that the next week’s issue number one would be the bill on anticorruption court of Ukraine, as assigned to the relevant committee.

“Currently, this is the number one law for the State of Ukraine in fact.  It is very important from the point of view of our domestic policy, since its creation actually completes both the judicial and the anti-corruption reforms.  The court shall become the body that can be appealed for by other anti-corruption authorities wagering on a fair decision.  This is equally important for our international contacts, since the next IMF’s credit tranche is, in particular, tied to the decision upon the anti-corruption court,” said A.Parubiy.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supposed that the Monday meeting of the related committee would result in a successful decision on the court law, aiming at a final decision on the issue by the next plenary Tuesday.

The highest stumbling stones of the issue were said to be a list of powers the public board of international experts is to be vested with and the right of veto.

On midday silence for Crimean Tatars

The Chairman called on those in attendance to join in at noon the all-Ukrainian minute's silence to honour the blessed memory of the victims of the large-scale deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944.

“Today, the State of Ukraine with our fellow countrymen and friends around the world celebrate the Day of struggle for the rights of the Crimean Tatar People and the Day of Remembrance of the deportation victims in 1944. Seventy-four years ago, the Russian Soviet Empire began repressions against the whole people.  Over the course of a day, hundreds of thousands of Crimean families were forcibly deported from the Crimea,” said Andriy Parubiy.

A.Parubiy remarked that "in Ukraine’s independence only, Crimean Tatars were offered to live freely and with dignity in the land of their ancestors in the Crimea, but nowadays the same Russian invaders have re-launched terror and repression against the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar Peoples in the Crimea".

"Dear compatriots, dear residents of the Crimea! We do remember about you!  We shall liberate the Crimea for sure and return you a free and happy life.  After all, the Crimea is connected with Ukraine for good and all.  We shall win!" stressed the Chairman of the Parliament.
