In his meeting on Friday with a World Bank Group (WBG) delegation, the Speaker of the Parliament thanked the directors for the advisory and financial support they have been rendering for the reforms in Ukraine.

“The pension, education, health care reforms, as well as the one in state property management and privatization are important steps that shall change the quality of life in the country," said A. Parubiy.

A.Parubiy stressed that "there are lots of challenges on the path of the reforms initiated as yet, and the Parliament’s role in these processes is extremely important".

"With the utmost dispatch we are striving to complete the process of establishing an independent Supreme Anticorruption Court and finish the formation of a whole anti-corruption system.  All the elements of the relevant draft law are in line with our international partners in accordance with the Venice Commission's recommendations," said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, having then added he was in hopes for a final vote on the bill on the Thursday to come.

The Parliament’s Chairman stressed the implementation of the global reforms as well as their financing were taking place against the day-to-day aggression by the neighboring state, when Ukraine needed to spend seriously for protection of its territories, for the security sector and addressing the problems caused by that hybrid war.

During the meeting, a better governance of the state banks and the banking sector, ensuring transparent, competitive privatization, the land reform, and assistance to out-migrants from the occupied territories in the Donbas were discussed.

The World Bank Group’s delegates, who represented almost eighty countries of the world, expressed their support to Ukraine’s reforms.

"We are the voice and representatives of our countries in the World Bank.  There are very few of us who have visited Ukraine before, and we are thus deeply impressed with those important reforms Ukraine has managed to hold in these difficult times," said Frank Heemskerk, Executive Director of the World Bank Board of Executive Directors.

“It is utterly important for us to feel the world’s solidarity,” highlighted Andriy Parubiy, the Speaker.
