A.Parubiy confirmed Ukraine and Poland had agreed upon four more border crossing points alongside the shared border

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy together with the Sejm Marshal Marek Kuchcinski inspected a border site meant for building a new border crossing point “Mal'khovitse-Nyzhankovychi”. They were also shown a customs and border checking procedure at the point “Korchova-Krakivets'” and a pedestrian crossing at the check point “Medyka-Shehyni”.

In his on-site interview to the mass media, the Chairman stressed building the new border facilities is quite a pressing matter now, especially in the light of the materially increased tourist cross-flows caused by the recently gained visa free travel to the EU. Following the tour, there will be elaborated a joint Ukraine-Poland budgetary-supported general plan for the mapped-out new builds and the renovations. The Mal'khovitse point is set among the building priorities and is scheduled for 2020 to be launched. The Polish side was said to have already pre-allocated PLN 100 million in its 2018 state budget.

As agreed upon with the Ukrainian Infractructure Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion, the next stage of the Ukraine-Poland border collaboration will be the other new crossing points slated for construction in Zakarpattia (border crossing point “Lubnia-Volosate”), Lviv Oblast (border crossing points “Boberka-Smol'nyk” and “Lopushanka-Mikhnovets'”), and Volhynia (border crossing point “Adamchuky-Zberezha”).

The Chairman of the Parliament underscored the border project participants “are going to do their utmost to succeed in what they have planned and accomplish this high-flying agreement aimed in the main at fostering good-neighbourly relations between Ukraine and Poland”.

The Sejm Marshal Marek Kuchcinski replied in turn that “from now on we all together go ahead to let the people astride feel free in crossing the border hither and yon”.

Andriy Parubiy expressed his gratitude to M.Kuchcinski for his last year initiative to boost a border crossing point building voiced by him at a home rule forum.

Worthy of note

As of today, the Ukraine-Poland border is served by eight automotive, one pedestrian and seven railroad border crossing points, and namely – six points in Volhynia, Lviv Oblast has ten ones, and none at present is in Zakarpattia.
