“A powerful Ukrainian army is the pledge of security in the whole European region,” -- Andrii Parubii
In his speech at the Rose-Roth Programme’s seminar A. Parubii, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, put a special stress that within some recent years the number of NATO supporters in Ukraine has increased up to 50%. “In a matter of four-five years ago due to extremely powerful Russian propaganda we had in Ukraine just near 16-18% of those who were supporting entrance of Ukraine in NATO, but now, after three years, we have 50%. This figure is quite important and it displays a deeper understanding of the NATO’s role in Ukraine,” said the Parliament’s head.
The Russian armed aggression against Ukraine became that last straw that broke the ‘camel’s back’ of the negative attitude to the North Atlantic Alliance.
In his return Rose-Roth speech Paolo Alli, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly clearly denoted that NATO flatly condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine and called on its governments to enhance material assistance to Ukraine. “We do know that supporting Ukraine is kind of self-defense. Our standpoint as to Ukraine is firm and unfailing – we resolutely denounce the partly Russian occupation of Ukraine, further infringement of the Minsk accords, violations of the human rights throughout the territories occupied. We do back the Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration and appeal to our own supreme authorities to lift up the practical assistance to Ukraine on bilateral and multilateral bases,” asserted P.Alli.
Nota bene. From July 3 till 5, the 95th Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly within the Rose-Roth programme of co-operation is to be held.
