Salutatory address
In his greeting speech Andrii Parubii, the Chairperson of the Vekhovna Rada of Ukraine congratulated heartily Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with their red-letter day.
He traced back the history of that July holiday to the times of Oleh Grand Duke of Kyiv and his eminent attack of Constantinople in 907, and, then - 1918, the year when the first Ukraine’s active naval formation was set up to give rise afterwards to the today’s fleet of Ukraine. Once again in July there were the first naval tactical exercises “Sea-96” in 1996. In his address the Speaker also mentioned the famous SKR-112 story that had taken place in July 1992, regarded now as the symbol of birth of the modern Ukraine’s navy.
‘I am deeply persuaded that Ukraine’s navies will return to the Crimea, recapture it for Ukraine and restore our naval bases throughout the peninsula,’ stated the Speaker.
Wellbeing, a robust health, and joy he wished to the seamen and their families, and a favorable wind and true might – to Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Glory to Ukraine!
