Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov will convene plenary meetings of the fifth session of the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation when necessary. This is stated in the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on amendments to the calendar plan submitted by the Chairperson of the Parliament.
Plenary meetings will be convened in order to settle the issues connected with the current situation in Ukraine and with the need for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to adopt respective decisions.
Oleksandr Turchynov said that until the new Verkhovna Rada takes an oath, the current Parliament will be working in committees and constituencies.
Opening the morning plenary meeting, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada congratulated his compatriots on the holiday of Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary. "The holiday of Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary is very important for Ukrainian people. Ukrainian Cossacks, our Ukrainian army respected Virgin Mary as their protector", said Oleksandr Turchynov. He informed that yesterday, in a conversation with the President of Ukraine leaders of deputies' groups and factions submitted a proposal to establish October 14 as the Day of Ukrainian Army.
"It is a holiday of Ukrainian spirit and unbreakable will to freedom and independence", stressed Oleksandr Turchynov. "May Our Most Holy Lady protect all of us and our Ukraine!"
