Chairperson of the Committee Tetiana Bakhteieva drew attention to that
fact that today “the issue of proper preparation of the health care system for 2014-2015
influenza and ARVI epidemic season cannot be underestimated.”The people’s deputy noted that influenza and ARVI amount to 90% of all infectious diseases that are officially registered in Ukraine. “Annually around 6 - 8 million of our citizens suffer from these diseases. This is not only a heavy burden on the health care system but also a significant economic damage for the country. Children make up the vast majority of the diseased – more than 70% of the total number,” said Tetiana Bakhteieva.
Committee members took into consideration the latest data of the virologic monitoring of the Health Ministry testifying that parainfluenza, RS viruses and adenoviruses are currently circulating.
It was stressed that the Health Ministry of Ukraine shall take all the necessary measures to prevent epidemic complications in the country and secure readiness of the health care system for operation during the epidemic season.
