Aiming to ensure the principle of inevitable punishment in cases when the suspect (the accused) is outside Ukraine hiding from the investigation and the court and evading criminal liability, and to promote efficiency of investigating separate crimes against fundamentals of national security of Ukraine, crimes against peace, security of humanity and international law and order, the legislative act supplemented several articles of the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes with provisions stipulating punishment in a form of confiscating property for committing the abovementioned crimes.
The Law introduces a special pre-trial investigation of the abovementioned offences by supplementing the Criminal Procedure Code with chapter 24-1, as well as introducing respective amendments to several articles of the Criminal Procedure Code.
