Ukraine's accession to the European Union will make it possible, thanks to payments from the general European budget, to modernise production, increase processing, and boost the output of value-added products. This applies in particular to the agricultural sector, which is one of the most sensitive areas in our negotiations with the EU.
This was stated by Yevheniia Kravchuk, Member of Parliament, member of the Servant of the People political party faction, and member of the permanent delegation to the PACE.
«The Cabinet of Ministers is currently finalising a resolution that essentially contains a list of everything we need to do in terms of European integration across all clusters. We face many challenges in the agricultural market, environmental policy and the financial sector. When it comes to the agricultural market, absolutely all countries that have joined the EU over the past two decades have seen a decrease in this sector as a percentage of GDP. However, this does not mean that conditions for the agricultural market have worsened; it has simply been modernised, and the overall GDP of these countries has grown,» the politician noted.
In her opinion, Ukraine should modernise its production thanks to the opportunities that are opening up in the process of joining the European Union.
«It is very important for Ukraine not to be a raw material appendage for anyone, including the European Union. Therefore, we must use the opportunities that will open up for us to modernise our production, increase the amount of processing, that is, increase the added value of products within the country. Processed products cost more and bring more money to the country, and they also mean higher wages within the country,» the MP stressed.
She added that for Ukraine to successfully adopt all European integration initiatives, it needs to fully consolidate its efforts and work closely together, both at the government and parliamentary levels, and within the Verkhovna Rada itself, between all factions and groups.
