The 17th meeting of the Parliamentary Association Committee between Ukraine and the European Union took place in Brussels, resulting in the adoption of a joint statement. During the meeting, a number of important issues were discussed, including the so-called reparations loan to Ukraine.

This was reported by Yevheniia Kravchuk, Member of Parliament, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, and member of the Permanent Delegation to the PACE.

«We focused on the issue of reparations credit, on which we expect a decision in December, when the leaders of the European Union and EU national governments meet. We believe that granting us this loan will send a very strong signal to the kremlin and putin that Europe is in it for the long haul with Ukraine. This way, we will not exhaust our resources, despite russia's active attempts to destroy our economy. It is important for us that this reparations loan – and we have emphasised this repeatedly – can be used not only for civilian but also for military needs: for military salaries, for new contracts offered by the Ministry of Defence, etc.,» the politician said.

She added that European Union countries continue to support Ukraine, and we have already received additional funds from the EU for energy security.

«We are now seeing individual EU member states allocating additional funds to help Ukrainians get through this winter. I hope that the government, despite the personnel changes that will affect the Ministry of Energy in particular, will still ensure the continuity of processes and institutions, and that all the relevant assistance will be used in the best possible way and transparently,» the MP stressed.
