The UN General Assembly is a very important and wide-ranging platform, which has no analogue in the presence of leaders from around the world. Therefore, it is here that we need to raise topical issues of the global security architecture, the war in Ukraine, the occupation and annexation of our territories by russia, etc.

This was stated by Yevheniia Kravchuk, MP, Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, member of the Permanent Delegation to PACE.

"At the UN General Assembly meeting, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke not only about Ukraine, but also about those countries that are currently at war and which the global security architecture cannot help. He mentioned Moldova, where elections will be held this Sunday, and russia is simply buying up votes and trying to disrupt the turnout for the Moldovan diaspora. The President cited the example of Georgia and African countries. Even today, it is a revelation for many in the world that russia is in fact an empire that wants to colonise or does not let go of colonised peoples. In the 21st century, it is waging what we hope is the last imperialist war on this continent and in the world," the politician said.

She added that an extremely important area of Ukraine's work is the holding of the Fifth Crimean Platform Summit in New York, which brings together world leaders, representatives of international organisations, parliaments and expert circles.

"The fact that the topic of Crimea is so high on the agenda is also important. It is of practical interest to Ukraine. Because a lot of sanctions have been attached to the rejection of the annexation of Crimea, to the rejection of border violations since 2014. And russia wants to ensure that countries recognise that Crimea is the territory of the russian federation by all means possible. Moscow is particularly irritated when we talk about the annexation of Crimea and have such a platform as the Crimean Platform," the MP said.

According to her, another track of work in New York concerns Ukrainian children and youth. On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska spoke about the frontline regions, schools in shelters, and the reality in which our children have to study.

"These topics unite different countries, they are close to every continent. Some are neutral, some cannot help Ukraine with weapons, but they can fund humanitarian projects, fund shelters for schools, etc. This is important for Ukraine today," the MP concluded.
