The Ukrainian artist Petro Antyp is painting the largest painting in the world called ‘Cosmogony’ in the Korsakiv Museum of Contemporary Art in Lutsk. The area of his work is 200 square metres.

The members of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy were able to see the work of art with their own eyes during an offsite meeting in Volyn on 12 July.

The artist himself is from Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast. When the full-scale invasion began, he and his colleagues founded the SaveCultureUA Foundation for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage. For his volunteer work, the artist was awarded the Order of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr. Today, Petro Antyp continues to create and promote Ukrainian culture.

The Cosmogony project, which is being implemented at the Korsakiv Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art, provides a basis for reflection on the history of humanity and its present.

According to the curator and author of the project idea, the founder of the Museum, Viktor Korsakiv, Cosmogony is a synthesis of painting, graphics, sculpture, photo and video art, music and performance, augmented and virtual reality. The painting is set to set a world record, and the project itself will become another attraction for tourists from all over the world. So far, the largest painting in the world is the work of British artist Sasha Jafri's Journey of Mankind, which covers an area of almost 1600 square metres.

The Committee members wished the project creators inspiration in their work. “Your work is amazing,” said Iryna Konstankevych, the First Deputy Chair of the Committee.
