Bilateral security agreements signed by Ukraine strengthen our capabilities, not only military but also economic, as well as the ability to implement reforms, restore the state, etc. Each agreement is a comprehensive long-term document. Currently, 23 such documents have been signed, and another 9 are being prepared.
This was stated by Arsenii Pushkarenko, the MP, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
“We already have 23 signed security agreements – 22 states and the EU separately. Nine more bilateral documents are being worked on, but for now we prefer not to disclose certain agreements, especially those that are already strengthening our capabilities. It is important that all agreements have a closed, non-public part. After all, the experience with the Budapest Memorandum taught us that every bilateral agreement must be filled with specifics, must contain mechanisms that will allow us to immediately receive weapons and assistance both today and in the event of a repeat of russian aggression,” the politician said.
He added that in total, the agreements already signed provide for additional support worth $38 billion.
“The documents are designed for 10 years. Both in our understanding and in the understanding of our partners, this is our path to the EU and NATO. Each security agreement definitely negates putin's thesis that they are tired of Ukraine and that our partners have exhausted their ability to support us. The agreements prove that the partner states stand by Ukraine, they are ready to help us both today and in the long term,” the MP stressed.
