Ukrainians must now get used to the fact that the processes of European integration will be constant and quite numerous. Our country has already reviewed its domestic legislation and is waiting for the European Commission to take similar steps. One of the main European integration documents this year is the draft law on fair lobbying.
This was stated by Yevheniia Kravchuk, the MP, Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, member of the Permanent Delegation to PACE.
"We understand that Ukraine has to implement about three thousand legislative acts that comply with EU standards. These can be decisions at the Cabinet of Ministers level, or one law that will resolve the issue of 10 acts, but these are dozens and hundreds of decisions for the coming years. Of course, we will work quickly because we have the support of the population and the political will, so we need to make the most of this moment. A lot of countries are cooling off along the way and losing momentum, and we cannot lose it," the MP said.
According to her, one of the first steps this year is to work on the already registered draft law on fair lobbying.
"It aims to prevent oligarchs and big business from influencing politics. At the same time, we would not want this to negatively affect good-faith advocacy, especially by NGOs that do this work well. This document should preferably be adopted by March. This is a completely new law, and it needs to be worked out very well. Even the EU representative in Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, said that there should be no rush, because there should be a balanced decision," the MP said.
She added that Ukraine will now receive annual reports from the EU on various topics and areas. Currently, most of the acts are on transport, agriculture, financial services, and the environment.
