The Parliament has ratified three international treaties – on Ukraine's accession to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, an agreement with the International Development Law Organisation on the establishment of a representative office of the International Development Law Organisation in Ukraine, and an agreement with the Government of the Republic of Korea on loans from the Fund for Economic Development and Cooperation.
The very fact that these important international treaties have been ratified is evidence that, despite the war and full-scale aggression against Ukraine, we continue to be an active participant in international politics and international law.
This was stated by Oleksandr Merezhko, the MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
"The purpose of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia is to promote eternal friendship, peace and cooperation among the countries in the region. This treaty is based on such fundamental principles as the principle of respect for the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national identity of each country. That is, by participating in this treaty, Ukraine will promote peace and cooperation in the region," the politician said.
According to him, it is also important to establish a representative office of the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO) in Ukraine.
"This agreement shows that we continue to develop economic relations with various countries and international organisations. The purpose of this treaty is to ensure the legal personality, rights, privileges and immunities of such an important international economic organisation as the IDLO," the MP said.
