Today, dozens of countries are actively helping Ukraine. These are not only the EU and the US, but also their allies, such as Japan and Australia. If we analyse this support in terms of GDP, we will see that a huge amount of assistance comes from the Baltic States, Norway, Denmark, etc.
This was stated by Olena Shuliak, the MP, Chairperson of the Committee on the Organisation of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning.
"We see how many different programmes are being implemented in Ukraine in the form of support for a particular community or social project, or a project related to the restoration of critical infrastructure. Different countries take patronage over a particular region, making the most of mechanisms that involve not just direct support but also mechanisms related to lending for a particular programme. Today, there are dozens and dozens of such programmes across Ukraine," the MP said.
She expressed hope that in 2024 such active support would continue at both the national and regional levels.
At the same time, the MP reminded that on 1 February, the EU summit is to take place, where a decision will be made to transfer EUR 50 billion in aid to Ukraine until 2027.
"Today, our Government has done a great job to formulate the relevant plan. All ministries, business representatives, the expert community, parliamentarians, and civil society representatives have been working on it. The focus of this reform plan is on the development of our economy, regional development, decentralisation, etc. Our Parliament has now adopted a fairly large package of European integration bills, and now the government is starting to do a lot of work to implement these laws," the politician said.
According to her, today all our partners see how quickly we can implement changes.
"Therefore, no one doubts that Ukraine is Europe, and our path of recovery and the path of European integration are a single process," Olena Shulaik stressed.
