The Committee on State Building, Local Governance, Regional and Urban Development recommends adopting the draft law “On De-Sovietization of the Legislation of Ukraine” registered by the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk (Reg. No. 4284).

"For the first time in 30 years of Ukraine's independence, we have decided to carry out one of the most fundamental reforms and clear Ukrainian legislation of those regulations that do not apply in Ukraine. To achieve these goals, we proposed: first - to amend the Labor Code of Ukraine and the Housing Code of the Ukrainian SSR; the second is to repeal the normative legal acts of the Soviet period, to recognize acts of state authorities and administration of the USSR of the Ukrainian SSR and (Ukrainian SSR) as not applicable on the territory of Ukraine," Ruslan Stefanchuk noted.

According to him, almost 1,500 legislative acts of state authorities and administration of the USSR, the Ukrainian SSR are proposed to be recognized as not applicable in Ukraine.

"The abolition of some acts of the Soviet period will significantly clear the legislation of Ukraine. We will only abolish those anachronisms - normative legal acts that are not applied on the territory of Ukraine, but only create obstacles on the way to systematization and improvement of the quality of the legislation of independent Ukraine," the politician emphasized.

According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, the draft law on the principles of law-making activity in Ukraine will be registered in the Parliament of Ukraine in the near future.

"This draft law proposes to establish a single legally regulated approach to lawmaking and systematization of legislation. However, without bringing the legal framework in line with modern requirements, we will not be able to move forward. This is an extremely important stage on the way to improving the quality of legislation, which is a fundamental function of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed.
