Opening the session, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy reminded that on July 7, there was celebrated the Day of Ukraine’s naval forces in the country. Then, the Chairman briefed on the agenda items that had been proposed for reviewing this week.

In his opinion, the parliament will be able to finalize the draft Electoral Code on July 11. After the code, the Verkhovna Rada is thought to consider:

·        draft law No. 8205 on hostages;

·        draft law amending serving military duty and doing military service;

·        draft law No. 10244-1 on military chaplaincy;

·        draft law on complete secondary education;

·        a bill drafted to increase government spending for restructuring the coal industry;

·        draft law No. 10357 on alternative energy sources to regulate generating electricity by private households;

·        draft law amending the public administration system for book-publishing.

The speaker informed that the parliament has piled up an array of presidential motions.  If the committee decides on Wednesday to appoint Vadym Prystaiko as foreign minister, then the parliament will be able on Thursday to proceed to staffing issues.

Reports of temporary investigating committees are slated to be heard on Thursday as well.

A.Parubiy stressed that this Thursday would truly be the last working day of the current Rada and he thus called on MPs to be in Kyiv on July 11 to have an effective plenary meeting.

Andriy Parubiy invited MPs to attend the draft electoral code presentation, which is to be held today at 14.00.

Heads of factions and groups, heads of parliamentary committees, the president’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Accounting Chamber Valerii Patskan, and the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv spoke at the board sitting as well.
