The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also commented on the Andriy Bohdan’s interview (Head of the Presidential Administration), in which the official stated that the new team intends to return regional languages. "The Ukrainian Parliament has recently adopted a law on single state language and we will not allow returning to the times of the "Kolisnychenko-Kivalov Act", which, under the guise of regional languages, was aimed at a simple destroying the Ukrainian language in Ukraine," said the head of parliament.
A.Parubiy reminded that PACE had returned the Russian deputation last week. “For Europe, it should be a very lurid day, as well as for the whole free world, though,” he commented. The parliament head voiced his strong belief that the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada would consider and assess that ill-boding situation.
He then apprised the chamber of a special joint meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, which is taking place at the moment.
"We must continue the struggle pointed at challenging the powers of the Russian delegation. In my opinion, its sheer effrontery and disrespect for the rule of law will lead to re-exclusion of Russia from the Council of Europe. It is a pity that our Western partners will be forced to learn the lesson in the school of hard knocks," said A. Parubiy and thanked the Ukrainian delegation to PACE for its zealous work.
Heads of factions and groups were given the floor to report at the meeting.
The presiding officer asked then to speak the head of the Ukraine’s deputation to PACE Volodymyr Ariev, who recounted at length about the recent PACE situation and the fresh decision of the Committee on Foreign Affairs to this effect.
Then, the floor was also given to the President’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine Valerii Patskan, heads of parliamentary committees and MPs.
Closing the board sitting, Andriy Parubiy called on MPs to a more active work on the electoral code amendments under the bill No.3112-1.
At this point, the presiding officer closed the meeting of the Conciliation Board.
