Oksana Syroid, Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, held a meeting with the Northern Europe parliamentarians -- members of the Nordic Council’s Conservative Group.
She saw them on this Wednesday, having talks over finding tools to ensure global peace, the Russian aggression, economic security and build-up of more potent inter-parliamentary ties.
Touching the meeting results, O.Syroid indicated that “the Nordic countries’ bolstering is crucial to us as they take it naturally what is going on in Ukraine, they do apprehend the pervading sense of menace from Russia. That is why, their governments and parliaments have extended a firm helping hand to us, both at home and abroad,” she said having added that “it is down to us then to furnish them with the actual position of our affairs as such inter-parliamentary contacts might allow the Nordic lawgivers to convey the first-hand information to both their cabinets and voter at large”.
The Ukrainian meeter stressed the official guests do comprehend that “Ukrainians are fighting for more than just their lands and sovereignty, but also for the liberal values which are integrating the whole world and Europe. They also expressed us their thanks and a good grasp of need for seeking for the modern gears to counter Russia”.
“There was much talk
as well over the project “Nord Stream 2” which is for all intents and purposes “a
many-dimensional menace”, inasmuch as it “threatens Europe’s economy, its
security and independence. Step by step, Ukraine is opposing it – with comradely
assistance of the Nordic countries as our friends,” concluded O.Syroid.
The progress in institutional reforms, too, was said to be much-discussed about. “We emphasized that to build up combating bribery and corruption we are in need of an independent anti-graft court, the lack of which is impairing any prospects to that effect,” said Oksana Syroid.
