Committee on Public Health

The committee held a round table on the topic: "The parliamentary committee’s legislative initiatives on adaptation of the health care system to European standards". The MPs and the experts, who had taken part in making of the bills in the committee working groups, presented their achievements in the field of health care at the meeting.

The Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Public Health has been actively working upon laying the legislative groundwork for reforming of the national health care system. During its 3-year work the committee has carried out at least 5 hearings and 33 meetings, sittings and round tables on the military medical doctrine, health care and medical education reforms aimed at expert appraisal and public debates on the issues.

All the efforts had resulted in working out of the 25 immediate steps for next changes in the health care system, which, in turn, had laid then out the ‘health care reforms’ road map’ approved by the Parliament in 2016.

Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism

The committeemen had a meeting with activists from the all-Ukrainian public children’s movement ‘Security school’. The school was established to train children in their own security, dealing with extreme rescue operations etc. It was stressed at the meeting that only thanks to the school leaders’ zeal the organization yet stays afloat and therefore does seek for the state’s support.

Committee on Corruption Prevention and Counteraction

A special sub-committee has been established to focus on:

-shaping and implementing of the anti-graft policies;

-analyzing of the anti-corruption legislative practices in order to prevent and counteract political corruption;

-monitoring of the state bodies’ performance in the above sphere;

-cooperation with the National Agency on Corruption Prevention in the policy implementation and in control over transparency of financing political parties;

-summarizing of the international experience in political lobbying and harmonizing it with the appropriate state’s policies.

Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations

As the practically ex-ombudsman is leaving office, the new assignment is to be done as soon as possible based on the Paris principles. The committee calls on the Parliament’s head to establish a selection panel to provide the clear process in line with wide public discussions and consultations.
