At the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine, Juris Poikans, First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Iryna Heraschenko, noted that the world does not recognize illegal occupation of Crimea, thus, Ukraine will counteract to any attempt to legitimize the Crimea's annexation, inter alia through the acknowledgement of results of Russia's parliamentary election on the peninsula.

The parties also paid particular attention to unwillingness of the Russian Federation to implement the Minsk agreement. Iryna Heraschenko said Ukraine insists on establishment of the fifth workgroup to engage in restoration of control over the state border.

She also noted the necessity to increase the pressure on the Russian Federation in order to release Ukrainian hostages kept in the temporarily occupied territories and political prisoners illegally kept in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Poikans informed that Latvia fully supports Ukraine in its commitment to retain its territorial integrity and sovereignty. He expressed confidence that the world community does not have any right to recognize the legitimacy of the parliamentary election Moscow intends to hold in the temporarily occupied Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
