The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly reminds that armed conflicts create favorable conditions for expression of cruelty towards women and other defenseless groups of civilians, such as children and elderly people.
The resolution draws special attention to the fact that the participation of women and girls, as well as inclusion of gender aspects into formal and informal peaceful activities is vitally important for the establishment of lasting peace.
The Parliamentary Assembly mentioned the discussion and decisions, initiated by the Resolution 1325 of the UNO Security Council concerning women, peace and security, and welcomed the fact that several OSCE participating States have already developed and adopted national programs concerning the implementation of the UNO Security Council Resolution 1325. Therefore, the Parliamentary Assembly suggests to the OSCE participating States to develop, adopt and put into practice national programs on the issues concerning women, peace and security.
The Parliamentary Assembly advises the OSCE to assume the role of the regional network that acts in favor of support, coordination and consideration of the development and implementation of national actions in this field.
