On December 17, the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Protection of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) held a public presentation of its annual report.

The event brought together key stakeholders, experts, and civil society representatives. It served as an excellent opportunity to summarize the Commission’s achievements, discuss challenges, and plan further steps.

Over the past year, the Commission has played a pivotal role in addressing critical issues, including:

Legislative analysis and improvement: Closing gaps in regulatory acts related to IDPs' rights.

Compensation for destroyed property: Developing mechanisms for compensating damaged or destroyed housing.

Housing provision: Facilitating the issuance of housing certificates, benefiting over 10,000 IDP families.

Protection of non-property rights: Ensuring legal status, social guarantees, and access to state support for IDPs.

Collaboration with authorities: Strengthening cooperation with local, national, and international organizations to protect IDPs’ rights effectively.

Monitoring international practices: Adopting best practices to implement effective solutions in Ukraine.

Drafting legislative initiatives: Developing new bills and improving existing legislation.

Promoting IDP integration: Supporting IDPs’ adaptation, including access to education, employment, and healthcare services.

"The Commission presented the results of its work over the past year and received constructive feedback from all stakeholders. Such engagement not only highlights the transparency of our efforts but also underscores the importance of collaboration between state institutions and society. We extend our gratitude to the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program for supporting the Commission’s activities," said Pavlo Frolov, Chairman of the Comission.
