The speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy opened the solemn meeting.
There was performed the Ukrainian national anthem at the session hall.
Participants of the solemn meeting honoured the memory of Ukraine’s defenders with a moment of silence.
On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eight convocation A.Parubiy congratulated the newly elected members of parliament and wished them a fruitful and productive parliamentary work.
The Chairman then announced that in attendance at the solemn meeting there were the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, former parliamentarians, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman, the Cabinet in pleno, ex-presidents of Ukraine, former VRU’s chairpersons and prime ministers, as well as many other grandees, dignitaries and officials of high rank, diplomats and foreign guests.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy invited Yulii Ioffe, the oldest newly elected member of parliament, to read out the oath’s text.
Upon the reading, a choir performed the spiritual hymn of Ukraine "Prayer for Ukraine".
A. Parubiy invited MPs to sign the oath’s text with their own hands. The oath signing ceremony would take place in the second floor’s lobby of the Verkhovna Rada.
After signing the oath, MPs are to submit it to the Verkhovna Rada Apparatus and receive a set of parliamentarian’s insignia. Then, they are to register for the first plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation, which is scheduled to start at 01:00 p.m. at the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation A.Parubiy congratulated the newly elected parliamentarians on taking the oath of office and announced the solemn meeting closed.
