On the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Law, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, alongside President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the third President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, People's Deputies, members of the Government, and representatives of the clergy, took part in a joint prayer for Ukraine.

The joint prayer was held at the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which sustained damage as a result of a russian attack on June 15. The participants lit candles for peace in Ukraine, for Ukrainian Defenders, and for all those fighting for the freedom and future of the state.

Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized that for 30 years, the Constitution of Ukraine has served as the foundation of statehood, a social contract, and a guiding light for a free nation. At the same time, the Ukrainian tradition of statehood has much deeper historical roots; thus, it is deeply symbolic to mark the anniversary of the Basic Law in a sanctuary with nearly a millennium of history, which stands as a witness to Ukraine’s spiritual and cultural continuity.

According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, today, constitutional values are undergoing the most severe trial in their history. russia seeks to destroy not only Ukrainian cities, sanctuaries, and cultural heritage, but the very foundations of Ukrainian statehood — independence, democracy, human dignity, and the right of the Ukrainian people to determine their own future.

'We will rebuild the damaged temples, cities, and homes. We will restore everything the enemy has destroyed. For no aggressor will ever succeed in destroying the faith, freedom, and humanity that live in the hearts of Ukrainians,' Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
