The First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Korniienko, paid a working visit to Luxembourg, during which he held a number of important meetings with the country's leadership. 

The Ukrainian delegation, led by the Deputy Head of Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Zhovkva, and the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Ukraine's Integration, Taras Kachka, the conducted substantive meeting with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden and the President of  Deputy Chambers Claude Wiseler. 

The parties discussed further support for Ukraine amid the ongoing russian aggression, as well as current needs of the state in the defence and security sectors. 

The First Deputy Speaker expressed his gratitude for the support extended to Ukraine, in particular, for military assistance that Luxembourg has been providing since the beginning of full-scale war. 

According to Oleksandr Korniienko, EU member states have to strengthen sanctions pressure on russia, which continues to terrorize Ukraine. 

The key topic of the meetings was the immediate steps toward Ukraine’s accession to the EU, in particular the opening of the subsequent negotiation chapters.

Oleksandr Korniienko highlighted Ukraine’s fulfillment of its European integration commitments and emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s continued progress toward full membership in the European Union.

“Our country is deeply committed to its choice to become a member of the EU. We demonstrate this through our daily actions and by adopting the necessary legislative decisions, specifically aimed at aligning us with European standards,” stated Oleksandr Korniienko.
